Without saying too much, let me just say that many DEA operations and military installations employ what are called psychic defenders who guard sensitive operations and facilities from other remote viewers and those who can astral travel.

I can tell you that even accidentally invading one of their operations will put you on their radar and you will receive dream visitations and real life visits from said operatives.

So, this guy may have been right on target with these people being a genuine threat. However, shooting them was not a long term solution for anyone and he gave up his life for what amounts to taking down a drop in an ocean of trouble makers.
