I think more that he does what is good for Russia and his people. We are allies for now and I respect him.
However, he is an opportunist and that could be a problem for me down the line. I won't say he is a white hat, just someone who is taking advantage of a good opportunity and our interests align. This is just my opinion, I have very little trust in people.
I quite enjoy Russian history and am reading "Always With Honor" by Pyotr Wrangel, a general of the White Russian Army against the Red Soviet Union. He gives an account of the White Russian side and how they lost which is egregiously missed in our history and has a huge number rhyming patterns in todays events.
