Inverse arrogance is still a type of arrogance. Vain, false humility is almost doubly arrogant. "This person is very arrogant, and I am better than him."

It's easy to slip into false humility. Just do a truth test. Are gubernatorial vote totals comparable to presidential ones? I think the comparison could have value in this context, given the hype of this election.

In general, most of Trump's perceived arrogant statements are true and therefore cannot be arrogant.

In addition, Cheong is omitting the context. Trump is defending himself against the current media narrative. It's difficult to not sound arrogant when on defense, especially when the offense is hidden. "You are bad" "No I'm not, I'm good. Great in fact!"
