OK u/rooftoptendie I'm relaxing now. EDM yes. Specifically, I built the bulk of my collection buying this stuff new. I was just out of college round 1, so while hardly rich, I had enough spare to get a reasonable amount of good stuff.

I tapered off late 90s when stuff just fell off interesting-wise, and IMO even though I am aware of plenty of modern underground stuff being pretty decent in its own right, I just don't think there's a point. It's like 60s-70s rock vs 80s+ rock, the latter has some good stuff, but there will never be another golden age.

Anyway - probably DJ Icey's best track IMO. This is very very well done and probably should have been a huge classic, but it didn't say "DJ Icee*" on it.

Yo-Yo Rodeo - Low Down Good Girl *To this day I'm not sure which spelling is his preferred one, as I'm sure the difference was due to stuff being released on different labels

Edit: Apparently "Icey" is canonical or whatever:

Edit 2: This a repeat but this thing still gets me right in the feels. It should be so cheesy but it sums up not just the time but how I feel about music 100%... amazing

Rozalla - I Love Music (Fire Island Mix)

Edit 3: I discovered the above by randomly finding a used 12" in the "rave" section at some point way later... very possibly at Zia in Tempe... what's amazing is it was also apparently a limited edition...so not sure what idiot got rid of it
