Yeah I'm a fan of both the Police (IMO the best band that ever played actually - I submit that no band has had this kind of synergy - or Copeland) and Zappa. The '88 tour CDs are all well worth it:
-
Broadway the Hard Way - mainly the political stuff - so at the time, mainly against the GOP/Moral Majority/televangelists etc - so, understandable in some ways, but Jesse Jackson does get his due ("Rhymin' Man")
-
Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life - because they quit on the road before the main US part of the tour - awesome, lots of "greatest hits" type stuff
-
Make a Jazz Noise Here - longer, often instrumental, and more-complicated stuff - because of the type of material, it took me longer to get into, but it's amazing now
Edit: And re: the Police, the "Police Live!" 2-CD is fantastic, disc 1 is Regatta d'Blanc tour, disc 2 is Synchronicity (with some songs not on the video version and vice versa).
Edit 2: I posted this recently but this is a great example of how great they were live: The Police/Invisible Sun/Tokyo 2008
