Addendum to this, there is a compost farm up the road from me, they bag it and sell it and it is quite the operation. He expanded to raising chickens, who are pastured and fed only compost and very little feed. They peck out all the green in 2 days, he slaughters them young so the eggs remain pullet sized, looking for a profit Those eggs he sells have such anemic yolks, worse than some supermarket eggs. The guy actually got a grant to raise them on compost. Of course I give out good food scraps, rice, pasta, scraps from the garden, but I do not just feed them that, they would be dead from malnuttrition after a year. he has buckets all over town and collects from restaurants, the schools, etc, all the scrapings from plates. No care if the food is organic, claims that the composting method he uses destroys chemicals. He is full of shit, it does not, all it destroys is pathogens, if done correctly, and not all of them either.
