In some kind of parallel, yesterday evening I started the Trance-Formation of America book. (I have been avoiding/delaying this because I'm not sure I want the super graphic content etched in my brain, but I figured I better do it eventually.)
Now, the blurb you link to here - terrible food? Terrible food? Well - I guess he did end up in the UK. "Never mind."
Edit: From 1-star on Goodreads: "DNF’d on kindle at about 8%. i really enjoy reading books about the Soviet Bloc etc from the perspective of people who lived during them, however i found the constant put down of “woke” culture and the transphobic comments in the beginning of the book incredibly off putting."
While we've established the context for "terrible food" and given it a pass, this more than makes up for it. On my list.
