I don't think a conviction on this type of case would prevent Trump from running anyways would it?

I do not know. The Constitution does not say anything about a no-conviction requirement. Source at https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artII-S1-C5-1/ALDE_00013692/

My understanding of what the Former National Security Adviser said is that if Trump is NOT convicted, this would boost his support significantly. In turn, he will be re-elected for a 2nd term. In comparison, if he is convicted, legally speaking, this would not prevent him from running, but this would negatively affect his support.

Disclaimer: About Warmonger-Bolton, I do NOT trust him. I do NOT support him. But on his statement above, I agree with him.

One benefit with a statement from Warmonger-Bolton is that it can easily be use with both Biden or Trump supporter. Because his statement is good for Trump. While at the same time Warmonger-Bolton as a very long history of supporting the DNC. Plus, he is a Warmonger-household name with the Main $tream Media$. So lots of visibility.
