I'm with you for a good portion of what you wrote. But not every symbol has been co-opted by evil weirdos.

Take the Caduceus for example. Moses putting a serpent on a stick, for the people to look at and be healed? Snake in a stick can be found in other instances and cultures using comparative mythology. Hermes comes to mind immediately.

My point is, using it to represent doctors, medicine, healing crafts of science, etc., has a long tradition, and still viewed that way today. It's fine. It represents taming the dangerous nature of things that can hurt/harm you, make you ill or even cause death.

I see no evil with it. Just because it looks like a nail doesn't mean it must be hit with a hammer.
