Very likely a prop gun.

  1. big ostentatious scope on top. But the dart would not be workable at a distance (tumbling - can't spin an ice object with rifling because that would shave bits off of it, and the dart is already a small object).

  2. Scope and handgun silly in this case because hand jitter might throw aim off at a distance. This would be a close range weapon, not even handgun normal distances.

  3. frozen dart would melt all too quickly, so you'd have to keep ammo in a special freezer, quickly put it in gun without getting shellfish toxin on your fingers.

  4. battery operated my ass. Even if you use the batteries to pump up an air chamber to power firing the projectile, the projectile would have to be smaller than a .22 and it would be fragile ice, and you could not get enough push to have any range. Plus, dart tip of ice easily breaks, you have no guarantee it would penetrate.

Too much force, and you damage the projectile. If no range, why the big scope needed?

So I call bullshit on it.
