I think he really honestly believed what he was peddling (which is why Trump calls in "crazy Bernie" but Trump never implied that Bernie was on the take like the others) People aren't too smart but they can sense when someone is honest. That's why he did so well then. Not so well in '20. They lost a lot of the Bernie people after '16 when they kicked all his delegates out of the hall & you can bet Hilary taught Bernie a lesson or 3 in some dark room with a couple of her henchmen. He has been her puppet ever since
