Though from the sounds of it he’s waited at least 8-12 hours. Accounting for a normal sleep schedule Plus whatever time it took to make this post. So his odds of survival have plummeted. And is probably depending now on what kind of bacteria it is and how fast the infection is spreading.

Dude took himself out of the gene pool already when he got his wobbly bits cut off. So it’s not like you can even call this a Darwin Awards moment. This is just pure stupidity.

And to put the level of pain he may end up in perspective. If this was before the invention of Antibiotics. Particularly the Classical/Medieval era. There’s a high likelihood you’d be begging a family member, friend or even your Doctor/Healer to poison you and or slit your throat as a Mercy Killing rather than wait it out.
