Your L2-L5 back problems affect the neurological system of your entire legs. This dictates blood flow to this region. Those blood clots could very well be caused by your lumbar problems.

If your scheduled back surgery is for fusing the vertebra together, this will only transfer your lumbar issues to the conterminous vertebra disk and loading will be concentrated and multiplied at that point. Problems will soon arise. The idea of fusing vertebra is not a go-to solution. My mother had that done and it only caused more back problems for her. The question is, "How much of your back issues are a result of calcification and neurological impedance? A slipped disk or/and resultant deterioration to the pathway between the vertebra will become arthritic and calcify in an attempt to heal and stabilize the area. Calcification often impedes neural messaging to those regions that it supports. Many spinal issues will translate in improper functioning of organs and other processes, including digestion. To decalcify try the very inexpensive remedy as follows:

Start with Borax protocol. Also, Read this. Don't believe me? Then Read this. Plenty of academic studies are listed there.

Boron deficiency causes the parathyroid to become overactive and stressed which causes the glands to release too much parathyroid hormone. Excess parathyroid hormones raise the blood level of calcium by releasing calcium from the bones, joints and teeth into the blood stream. This then leads to osteoarthritis and other forms of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile arthritis, spondylitis, gout, lupus, osteoporosis, pyorrhea and tooth decay.

With advancing age high blood levels of calcium lead to calcification of soft tissues causing muscle contractions and stiffness; calcification of the eyes, endocrine glands, especially the pineal gland and the ovaries. Arteriosclerosis, kidney stones, and calcification of the kidneys ultimately leading to kidney failure. When the intracellular calcium levels get too high the cells will die!

Borax works for reversing arthritis. It is essential for processing calcium. It reversed my arthritis in my shoulders and I have yet to find an exception to it curing arthritis.

Borax is dirt cheap and easy to use. Using other protocols along with borax sounds like a good way to decalcifiy.

#2. Find an 'Atlas' chiropractor. In more than 20 years of searching, and after swearing off the chiropractic profession, I found an 'Atlas' chiropractor that immediately unpealed an onion of issues I had with my spine as a result of an auto accident. Believe me when I say, I tried all of the avenues from physical therapy, acupuncture, to injections, to being talked into surgery. Fortunately, I had my own mother to remind me how well her surgery ended up. I backed out and was determined to live with my affliction. That is, until I found an Atlas chiropractor.

Your L2-L5 problems are most llkely multi-layered like my spinal issues were. Surgery is the last of the last resort.....
