We can't earn life, we simply accept it.
Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Does being spiritually minded seem like work? Are we rewarded for being of the right mind? So life does take work on our part, on God's part it is a free gift. God set it up that way.
