I disagree with the preterist view as all the prophecies were not fulfilled in 70AD. The white throne judgement, first and second gog Magog wars etc. So it must be at a later date.

Even the great commission Christ gave to preach to the whole world, which was given around 30AD but they had 40 years to offer the gospel to the entire world. Wouldn't Christ of known that wouldn't happen?

Christ's disciples also thought it would be in their lifetime after Christ's ascension but a bit later they realised it will be later on and decided to prepare for teaching later generations of believers. It's why we have the gospels so late in comparison to the epistles. They realised in their later lives they need to tell the story of Christ.

Where does it leave us if the preterist theory was true? God took a small amount of 1st Century believers to heaven and has just abandoned the rest of humanity from then till now in a state of limbo. God said he will never forget or forsake us, so I can't take the preterist view seriously.

But I agree with you that God uses the same patterns, the Bible is an amazing book that has so many levels of confluence and continuity.
