I have long said post a sign that says: we do not see sore throats, sniffles, flu,headaches, cough without shortness of breath/difficulty breathing. Your insurance will not cover these issues in the ER. You will need to pay by cash or credit card in advance to be seen for these issues, and your wait time may be longer due to the non-emergent nature. You must see your doctor or urgent care for these. The ER is for heart attacks, strokes, shortness of breath/breathing issues, bleeding problems, and broken bones.
