The washing of the feet is a sacred act - much more intimate and meaningful than serving food or being civil to someone on the street.

When you do something like wash the feet of someone who hates you or openly mocks your morality, or even hates Christ, and then you bow down to them as some way of elevating yourself via public humiliation, it's the ultimate shallow act because it is done for show, more specifically as a show of how virtuous you are.

Jesus would say to have some Pride - if you must wash feet, start first with those closest to you, so that your efforts will be appreciated and by those who love and respect you and whom you love and want to be happy. Wash your wifes feet. Or maybe your grandma, or some old friend who is feeling ill or disabled - all these are deserving of your love and attention, and your time will be invested well to look first to those who form your circle. And it will be done not out on the street in front of everyone but wherever they are, the hospital, nursing home, etc.

What the ad doesn't show is that, while these vile characters had jumped to the front of the line, there were other people who had lived just and good lives and who had nobody to care for them or wash their feet. Wouldn't it be a more just world if the good people were getting the footwashes and not the pukes who would never appreciate it?

Christ washed his disciples feet, not some random people, because he knew what relationships were worth deepening and which ones would never bear fruit. I think that is the more powerful lesson from this parable in my humble opinion. But I see your side of it too.

The washing of the feet is a sacred act - much more intimate and meaningful than serving a bum some slop or being civil to a whore who killed her baby.

When you do something like wash the feet of someone who hates you or is a complete moral degenerate you only cheapen yourself and christianity as a whole, and make us all look like cucks. Have some pride - if you must wash feet, go wash your wifes feet or your grandma or somebody who loves you and is deserving of your love and attention. Christ washed his disciples feet, not some random people, because he knew what relationships were worth deepening and which ones would never bear fruit.
