I read 1984 in 1984 when I was still in grade school.

That led me to classics listed on the back cover of the paperback such as Animal Farm, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, etc.

I remember reading a Time Magazine article about HIV/AIDS several years later. It said the disease violated every single one of Koch's Postulates and I thought that doesn't even make any sense.

One of the first things I did when I got my first home computer in 1998 was to look up AIDS and Koch's Postulates, which led me to Dr. Peter Duesberg's personal website.

Duesberg claimed AIDS was a coverup for homosexuals dying from a combination of gay sex with hundreds of partners and recreational drug use, specifically poppers (nitrite inhalants which function much like Viagray) and simultaneously was blamed as the cause of death for Africans who actually died of starvation.

I suppose I've been awake most of my life and always questioned the narrative.

I took some college classes on Public Relations and learned the most important stories are very short and buried on page A19 of the newspapers. The goal of PR was to prevent the company you were representing from appearing in the papers at all. I definitely got Winston Smith vibes from that revelation.
