theory on one possible meaning: I also follow what is going on in the stock market. and by now many know that the hedgefunds and other big players in the market use Dark pools only accessible to them i.e. private exchanges, not the open market exchanges which are Lit or Light Pools. They use these dark pools to manipulate prices of many stocks to basically rip off retail investors. It's more complicated than that but that's basically it.
So latest trend in the GME saga is to Direct Register Shares or DRS. By doing this they are forcing much of the trade onto the Lit pool exchanges where real price discover will happen and Hedgefunds can't hide a lot of criminal things they are doing to keep price down. After MOASS or whatever happens because Hedgefunds majorly fucked up, there will be call for change to not allow dark pool trading of publicly traded stocks.
