May 30 (Reuters) - The U.S. government is nearing an agreement to fund a late-stage trial of Moderna's mRNA bird flu vaccine, the Financial Times reported on Thursday, as the outbreak spreads in dairy cows.
Moderna told Reuters it was in discussions with the government on advancing its vaccine candidate, but did not confirm the funding, saying it has nothing further to add.
Federal funding from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) could come as soon as next month and would include a promise to procure doses if late-stage trials are successful, the FT report said, citing people close to the discussions.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) did not immediately respond to a Reuters' request for comment.
Moderna is testing the experimental shot, mRNA-1018, against several strains of the virus - including the currently circulating H5N1 variant. It said dosing in an early-to-mid stage study of the vaccine was completed, and it expects data soon.
Shares of the company have risen about 40% since April 1, when the second known human case of bird flu in the United States was reported. The stock was up about 3% at $151.25 in premarket trading on Thursday.

Was it more, less or about the same as any other Easter Sunday? Mine was packed. The Holy Spirit was pulling a lot of people in today. Hopefully the disturbing and twisted times we are experiencing is causing a lot of normies to think about the good and evil taking place in plain sight. Much of our sermon delt with setting good examples in our communities, college campuses, at work and play. Showing God's love for us reflected to others feeling hopeless and lost.
We need to draw people to our side not by fear or intimidation but by engaging in a kind word and offers to help others when we see them struggling. Lots of people feel lost today, unable to trust the media or even relatives and friends. We can fill the gap if we make the time to stop for a moment in our busy lives and offer a helping hand, give a compliment, a word of encouragement. We never know what that person is going through but in a world of bitterness , hate, division, perversion and lies our kindness might be the greatest gift they never expected that day.
So while we fight the good fight online let's also fight evil by doing good in small ways every day. When God gives us the eyes to see someone in pain, sad, overwhelmed, frustrated, or depressed and anxious..give of yourself as Christ has given to you. A compliment, an atta-boy, a smile and a kind word are all things we can do everyday, to bless that person and ourselves in the eyes of God. A tiny piece of God's love is more powerful than all of Satan's army. Give small pieces of that love away everyday and watch how things start happening for the better.

Let's say that someone (DS) wanted to get the US into another war to deflect attention from Trump, failing economy, open border, pedos, etc. They might put a few US troops in a neighboring country near a hot war zone and find a few drone operators willing to drop a bomb or two on those same unsuspecting Americans, The Pentagon in righeous indigantion would state that this is an act of war against the U.S. which will not go unpunished. He should roll out a plan for the federal government to subsidize the purchase of a new U.S. manufactured weapon for every adult American citizen that wants one. Any pistol, shotgun or rifle up to a value of $1500 would be covered once proof of citizenship is made along with the completion of a gun safety course run through the NRA which would be free. Trump couldn't lose with a program like that. It would cost far less than Biden or Obama sending cash to Ukraine or Iran.
