Mail-in ballot fraud “significantly” impacted the 2020 US presidential election, handing President Joe Biden his victory, according to a study published by conservative think tank the Heartland Institute on Friday.
“Had the 2020 election been conducted like every national election has been over the past two centuries, wherein the vast majority of voters cast ballots in-person rather than by mail, Donald Trump would have almost certainly been re-elected,” the report stated, citing survey data collected in December.
As many as 28.2% of mail-in voters potentially committed some form of fraud, acting in ways that were “under most circumstances, illegal,” the institute’s data suggested.
With over 43% of 2020’s votes cast by mail - the highest percentage in US history - this alleged fraud “significantly” impacted the election results.
The group’s December survey of 1085 likely voters found that about one in five mail-in voters may have acted fraudulently. Over a fifth (21%) of respondents admitted to filling out ballots for others or voting in a state where they were no longer a permanent resident, while 17% said they signed ballots for family members without their approval. Another 19% said a friend or family member had filled out their own ballot.
After subjecting the data to further statistical analysis, however, Heartland upped the percentage of potentially fraudulent mail-in ballots to 28.2%, adding that mail-in voters disproportionately favored Biden, further skewing the results.
Even if the percentage of fraudulent mail-in ballots was as low as 3%,Trump would have won, the think tank, which is known for opposing government regulation, argued, laying out 29 different scenarios with varying degrees of fraud to bolster its case that the Republican incumbent would have triumphed in the absence of fraudulent ballots.
The report urged lawmakers to crack down on mail-in voter fraud by requiring in-person voting or, in cases where that was impossible, requiring mail-in vote signatures be notarized or otherwise authenticated by a trusted third party.
“If state lawmakers fail to solve this problem, Americans’ confidence in the legitimacy of elections in 2024 and beyond will likely decrease, paving the way for chaos and civil unrest,” the report stated.
Mail-in voting, previously restricted to a small segment of the US population, was opened up to all during the 2020 presidential election due to the Covid-19 pandemic, despite bipartisan concerns about the potential for voter fraud.
While the Department of Homeland Security insisted the 2020 election was “the most secure in American history,” Trump and many of his supporters blamed voter fraud for his loss. Thousands descended on Washington DC on January 6, 2021 to protest the certification of Biden’s victory in the Electoral College. Clashes between Capitol police and protesters attempting to enter the Capitol building subsequently triggered the infamous riot for which thousands - including the former president - have been charged.

On February 5th Citizen Free Press noted that Tucker Carlson may also interview Edward Snowden and Biden rape accuser Tara Reade while in Moscow.
Semafor reported on this earlier.
Tucker Carlson has kept a busy agenda in Moscow, meeting with two key American figures living in exile there.
The former Fox News host met for hours Thursday with the NSA leaker Edward Snowden, Semafor has learned. While the former NSA whistleblower was a regular figure in the press in the years after he fled to Russia, he has largely receded from public appearances in recent years, citing the desire for wanted greater privacy for his family.
The Snowden interview was not for Carlson’s video program, but he did tape an interview with Tara Reade, a former junior Senate aide who decades later accused President Joe Biden of sexual assault (an allegation he denied). Reade moved to Russia last year after several years of increasingly speaking out in support of pro-Russian policies. In 2022, the Russian delegation to the United Nations called her to speak in 2022 on “weapons diversion,” and hosted Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations on her YouTube channel. When she made her allegations in 2020, Carlson stood out on the right for his skepticism.
The Independent also reported on this development.
Tucker Carlson met with NSA leaker Edward Snowden while in Moscow, according to Semafor.
The former whistleblower featured heavily in Russian media before seeking more privacy in his family life.
Mr Snowden was initially granted asylum in Russia in 2013 after leaking a trove of classified National Security Agency (NSA) documents, and then was granted permanent resident status in Russia in 2020. That year, he announced his decision to seek duel citizenship, stating in a tweet that “after years of separation from our parents, my wife and I have no desire to be separated from our son.”
Carlson reportedly met Snowden for hours, but the meeting was not for his video programme, the outlet noted.
But Carlson did record an interview with Tara Reade, a former Senate aide who later accused President Joe Biden of sexual assault, which he has denied.

The brother of Jeffrey Epstein has revealed a previously unreported autopsy photo, arguing that it proves the convicted child-sex trafficker couldn’t have committed suicide in his jail cell.
Mark Epstein discussed the photo and other evidence in an interview on Friday with US podcast host Megan Kelly. The graphic picture shows a large red scar across the middle of the deceased pedophile’s neck, which his brother said was inconsistent with reports by authorities that he hung himself in his New York City jail cell.
If Jeffrey Epstein had been found hanging from the upper bunk, as reported, ligature marks should have gone up under his chin and behind his ears, his brother said. “From that picture, the ligature mark on his neck is more in the middle of his neck and sort of goes straight back,” he said. “In a hanging, it goes really high up in the front of the neck because you sink down into that noose.”
Jeffrey Epstein was found dead inside his cell at New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center in 2019, while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide by the city’s chief medical examiner. A doctor hired by Epstein’s family who was present for the autopsy claimed that some of the evidence, including multiple neck fractures, suggested that he was murdered.
Doubts cast on the official findings stoked speculation that Epstein was killed to prevent possible exposure of the rich and politically powerful people on his client list. Previously sealed court documents from a case involving one of the pedophile’s alleged victims were released last month but didn’t contain any of the bombshell information that some observers expected.
Mark Epstein has speculated that another inmate in the section of the jail where his brother was held killed him. The camera in that section wasn’t working on the night of Epstein’s death, according to government authorities, who have refused to release footage from a camera outside the wing or to disclose the identities of the other inmates.
“All I got from them, for every question I asked, was, ‘After a thorough investigation, we determined it was a suicide,’” Mark Epstein said. “That was the answer I got to every question.” He claimed that normal investigative practices weren’t followed, such as leaving the body in place until the medical examiner arrived.
Mark Epstein also raised questions about an autopsy photo of his brother’s legs, which didn’t have lividity marks, contrary to official claims about his body position. “If he was hanging the way they said, there would be evidence of lividity in his legs and buttocks,” he said.

Hungarian President Katalin Novak stepped down on Saturday and apologized for pardoning a man convicted of covering up the sexual abuse of children following days of protests.
“I issued a pardon that caused bewilderment and unrest for many people,” she said in a televised message, admitting she had “made a mistake.”
Protests erupted in Budapest earlier in the week over her decision to pardon a man convicted of concealing a sexual predator in a children’s home.
The man had received a three-year prison sentence in 2018 for pressuring residents of a government-run children’s home to retract their claims of sexual abuse against the facility’s director. The director, who reportedly abused at least ten children between 2004 and 2016, was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Novak issued the pardon last April ahead of a visit by Pope Francis, though the man’s inclusion on the pardon list did not become public knowledge until recently.
Novak was the first woman and the youngest person to serve as Hungary’s president.
Former Justice Minister Judit Varga, who co-signed the pardon while serving in that post, resigned from her current position as a member of the Hungarian parliament, revealing in a Facebook post on Saturday that she planned to “retire from public life.”
Thousands of protesters reportedly gathered outside the presidential office in Budapest on Friday to demand Novak’s resignation.
Before her appointment as president in 2022, Novak had served as minister for families. She was also vice president of Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party and was known for strong advocacy for traditional family values and protecting children.
On Thursday, Orban proposed a constitutional amendment to ban all pardons for criminals convicted of a crime against children. Opposition parties also launched an ethics proceeding against Novak.
Mert Pop, one of the victims from the children’s home, told the Associated Press he felt betrayed by Novak, who he thought was “a good-natured mother, a good family mother, a calm, moderate president. And then it turned out that this was not the case.” A meeting with Novak in which she explained the reason for the pardon might be “a good remedy” for the distress the victims felt, he said.
Novak refused to explain her decision or answer questions about it during a press conference on Tuesday, arguing that “justification for decisions around presidential pardons is not public, and it is therefore natural that every pardon will raise questions, and these questions will often remain unanswered.”
Pardons were “divisive by their nature,” she insisted.
A lawyers for the victims, Andras Gal, called the pardon “a slap in the face” to his clients, arguing that “pedophilia is different” from other pardons because it is universally considered abhorrent. “Pedophilia is not divisive,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s interview with conservative American journalist Tucker Carlson this week provided a great opportunity to make people in the West think, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.
Speaking to TASS on Saturday, Peskov said the two-hour interview, which largely revolved around relations between Moscow and Kiev, made it possible for Putin to be heard in the West.
Asked about the interest the interview has sparked, garnering over 100 million views in just one day on Carlson’s X account (formerly Twitter) alone, the spokesman replied that the numbers do not necessarily equate to universal support from viewers.
“We cannot expect that our point of view will receive support. The main thing for us is that our president is heard. And if he is heard, this means more people will think about whether he is right or not. They will think, at least,” Peskov stated.
The spokesman also referred to Putin’s remarks during the interview when he acknowledged that it is difficult to resist Western propaganda, claiming the US and Britain control the major media outlets.
“The Anglo-Saxons, one way or another, own all the largest broadcasters, all the largest newspapers, and so on. And against this background, the main thing is to give people the opportunity to become acquainted with our point of view. And in this regard, this is a very good opportunity.”
The interview, which was published on Thursday, was the first sit-down between a US media personality and the Russian president since the beginning of the conflict between Moscow and Kiev in early 2022. It covered a wide range of topics, while largely revolving around the ongoing hostilities. The Russian president also offered a lengthy review of the centuries of shared history between Russia and Ukraine, arguing that the latter has been long used by the Collective West to antagonize Moscow after the collapse of the USSR.

Pro-Palestine demonstrators heckled Hillary Clinton at a lecture on Friday, calling the former US secretary of state a “war criminal” and telling her that she “will burn” for her actions in the Middle East.
Clinton was interrupted as she took the stage to deliver a lecture on conflict-related sexual violence at Columbia University in New York, where she is a professor of international and public affairs.
“Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, you are a war criminal!” one man shouted. “The people of Libya, the people of Iraq, the people of Syria, the people of Yemen, the people of Palestine as well as the people of America will never forgive you,” the protester continued, shouting “you will burn” as he was escorted from the theater.
The former presidential candidate began her speech, but was interrupted and shouted down by a second protester.
“You’ve done this before… You exploited sexual violence in Libya so you could justify US militarization,” the protester exclaimed. “If you were enraged about sexual violence, you’d be talking about the sexual violence in Palestine and the sexual violence that they endure daily.”
“People are free to protest,” Clinton responded, “but they are not free to disrupt events or classes and that is going to be the standards that we follow here and going forward.”
Clinton served as secretary of state from 2009 to 2013 under then-President Barack Obama. As the US’ top diplomat, she lobbied Obama to “surge” more troops into Afghanistan, armed anti-government jihadists in Syria, and advocated for NATO intervention in Libya. After Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was deposed, sodomized, and executed by US-backed rebels, Clinton boasted to CBS News: “We came. We saw. He died.”
Clinton took a consistently pro-Israel stance during her tenure at the State Department, backing Israel’s bombing of Lebanon in 2006. She has criticized calls for a ceasefire in the current Israel-Hamas war, arguing that a pause in the fighting would give the Palestinian militants “a chance to re-arm and perpetuate the cycle of violence.”
US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield spoke after Clinton at Friday’s event. She too was interrupted by protesters, who chanted “free, free Palestine” as they were escorted from the hall.
Hamas fighters attacked Israel on October 7, killing around 1,200 people. Israel responded by launching airstrikes on Gaza before sending tanks and troops into the enclave. In the months since, pro-Palestine protesters have heckled President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, vandalized the gates of the White House, and marched on Biden’s home in Delaware.

The US imported $1.2 billion worth of Russian uranium last year, the most ever on record, RIA Novosti reported on Thursday, citing official statistics.
In December, the US Congress tried to introduce a ban on imports of Russian uranium as part of the sanctions campaign against Moscow over the Ukraine conflict.
The bill stalled in the Senate, but purchases of Russian uranium jumped two-fold during that month to $193.2 million, RIA Novosti writes. As a result, the total value of shipments for the year increased by 43%, hitting a new record of $1.2 billion, the agency added.
According to the report, Russia has remained America’s top supplier of uranium in terms of monetary value. Based on volume, it is the fourth-largest supplier to the US, with Canada in the top spot, according to calculations provided by S&P Global.
The US has its own deposits of uranium, but they are not sufficient to supply the country’s nuclear power sector. Russia has the world’s largest uranium enrichment complex, accounting for almost half of the global capacity. According to some estimates, it would take at least five years of heavy investment for the US to break its dependence on Russian imports of enriched uranium used to fuel nuclear reactors.
According to the Department of Energy, nuclear power contributes nearly 20% of the electricity generated in America.

Charities controlled by members of the Rockefeller family and billionaire donors were behind a successful campaign to pressure US President Joe Biden into suspending new approvals of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, the Wall Street Journal reported this week, citing its sources.
People familiar with the matter told the newspaper that the Rockefellers, along with other wealthy donors, including former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, have provided millions of dollars in recent years to environmental groups campaigning against fossil-fuel projects, including LNG terminals that have been proposed on the Gulf Coast.
Biden ordered a pause on approvals for LNG exports from new projects in the country on January 26, citing their potential contribution to climate change. The move, which was welcomed by climate activists, could delay decisions on new plants until after the November 5 US presidential election. “They got our attention,” a senior Biden administration official said about the activists’ efforts, describing the campaign as intense, according to the WSJ.
However, many large producers have vocally opposed the move, emphasizing that LNG plays a vital role in the energy transition. The controversial decision has also sparked anger among Republicans in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Lawmakers said the halt inevitably weakens global energy security and undermines Washington’s efforts to help the EU reduce reliance on Russian energy.
The Independent Petroleum Association of America has also argued that the plan would “bolster Russian influence” in the European gas market. The US became world’s top LNG exporter last year, shipping roughly half of its exports to Western Europe. According to the White House, the US has exceeded its annual delivery targets to the EU for each of the last two years.
Meanwhile, according to the WSJ, a few days after Biden’s announcement, Sarah Brennan, an associate director at the Rockefeller Family Fund, wrote in an email to environmental groups saying that “the pause…is the result of a sustained four-year push that built upon years of opposition to gas exports by community groups and lawyers.” Brennan added that “the White House recognized the power [of] this campaign.”
The report indicated that in 2018 the Rockefeller Family Fund, a charity created by some of the heirs of oil magnate John D. Rockefeller, launched an initiative called the Funder Collaborative on Oil and Gas to encourage green funders to do more. Some of the heirs have reportedly campaigned for years against US energy giant Exxon Mobil.

The UK-based environmental charity Green Alliance has accused actor and comedian Rowan Atkinson of being a high-profile obstacle to the government’s efforts to phase out fossil fuel vehicles by 2035.
Addressing the House of Lords on Tuesday, a group representative claimed that a comment piece written by Atkinson in the Guardian newspaper in June 2023 was “one of the most damaging articles” for the net zero cause and the public’s adoption of EVs.
In his op-ed, Atkinson, a part-time auto-journalist and a self-described “car person” and “early adopter” of EVs, stated that while he had enjoyed owning a hybrid and a fully electric car, even though they were “a bit soulless,” he has increasingly felt “duped” regarding claims that EVs are an “environmental panacea.”
The actor criticized the use of lithium-ion batteries in EVs, citing research suggesting that greenhouse gas emissions during the production of electric cars were 70% higher than when producing gasoline ones. The main culprit, Atkinson pointed out, were the “absurdly heavy” batteries, which are estimated to last only up to 10 years. “It seems a perverse choice of hardware with which to lead the automobile’s fight against the climate crisis,” he wrote.
Atkinson suggested the need for electric vehicles as a solution to the climate crisis could be negated by encouraging drivers to stop buying new cars every three years and to keep their vehicles for longer. Another solution, proposed by the actor, was exploring ways to increase the use of cleaner synthetic fuels.
“I’m feeling that our honeymoon with electric cars is coming to an end, and that’s no bad thing,” the actor concluded.
In its letter to the House of Lords environment and climate change committee, the Green Alliance pressure group insisted that Atkinson’s views were misleading and suggested that his concerns regarding EVs had been “roundly debunked.”
“Unfortunately, fact checks never reach the same breadth of audience as the original false claim, emphasizing the need to ensure high editorial standards around the net zero transition,” the group said.
Other issues hindering the country’s phase-out of combustion-engine vehicles included insufficient charging infrastructure, high prices on new EVs compared to their petrol and diesel alternatives, and a “lack of clear, long-term messaging from government.”

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Wednesday that the world is moving towards an “age of chaos” as a divided Security Council struggles to adapt to critical geopolitical issues and ongoing global crises.
In his annual address presenting his priorities for 2024 to the Security Council in New York, Guterres said that conflicts and wars across the globe are creating a “dangerous and unpredictable” reality for innocent civilians.
“For millions of people caught up in conflict around the world, life is a deadly, daily, hungry hell,” Guterres told the UN’s General Assembly. This “age of chaos,” as he described it, has created a “dangerous and unpredictable free-for-all” at a time when the United Nations Security Council “is deadlocked by geopolitical fissures.”
Among the issues dividing the UN, Guterres said, is Israel’s war in Gaza. He added that he was “especially alarmed” by reports that Israel intends to focus its military offensive in the southern area of the besieged enclave, where more than a million people have sought shelter from aerial and ground bombardment.
“Such an action would exponentially increase what is already a humanitarian nightmare, with untold regional consequences,” he warned.
The secretary-general was also critical of states seeking to bolster their arsenals of weapons of mass destruction, measures that, he said, serve only to increase global insecurity and inflame regional tensions.
“After decades of nuclear disarmament, states are competing to make their nuclear arsenals faster, stealthier and more accurate,” he said. The weapons are being developed without guardrails, he added, “creating new ways to kill each other – and for humanity to annihilate itself.”
Guterres stated that, while the Security Council has experienced division in the past, “today’s dysfunction is deeper and more dangerous.”
“During the Cold War, well-established mechanisms helped manage superpower relations" he said. “In today’s multipolar world, such mechanisms are missing.”
The UN chief also called on member states to “make peace with the planet” by committing to reducing harmful emissions and working to phase out fossil fuels, pointing out that humanity’s “war with nature” is a “crazy fight to pick.”
Amid the bleak global outlook, Guterres called on world leaders to come together for the ‘Summit of the Future’ to be held in New York in September, adding that it was an opportunity for global leaders to “shape multilateralism for years to come.”

Here is an interesting story that no one in the national media saw coming. Now you will get the inside scoop of how we pulled it off. Because…
“WE DID THAT.”
Nikki Haley just suffered the most humiliating loss in the history of American politics. She lost to “None of the Above” in my home state of Nevada. Political pundits outside Nevada are shocked. They can’t figure out how that happened.
Well, I know. My audience and I made that happen!
Today is quite a day. It’s my 8th anniversary of being the #1 radio host in Las Vegas and the state of Nevada. My show dominates the airwaves here in “afternoon drivetime” from 3 PM to 6 PM.
My show started in Las Vegas on 2/7/16 during Donald J. Trump’s first presidential campaign. So, today is our 8th anniversary.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY LAS VEGAS!
My 8 years as “the Godfather of Las Vegas conservative talk” have been dominated by three Trump presidential runs- all wrapped around four glorious years with Trump as the greatest president of my lifetime.
Today I have national TV shows and a nationally-syndicated radio talk show. But my pride and joy…the jewel of my media platform…and my flagship station…remains AM 670 in Las Vegas. My show is also heard throughout the state of Nevada.
My audience is virtually the entire base of the Nevada GOP. Not everyone listens every day, but collectively my show reaches pretty much every conservative in Las Vegas and most of the conservatives in the state. Those are the people who come out in GOP primaries.
Now let’s look at what we just pulled off.
I was a big fan of Rush Limbaugh in my twenties. I always enjoyed the pranks he pulled off. So, about a month ago, I came up with a creative and fun idea.
Nevada this year has both a GOP presidential primary and a GOP presidential caucus. And they are 48 hours apart. Holy cannoli- very confusing.
I had to really educate my audience- who were (rightfully so) very confused. Over the past two months, I received thousands of emails from Nevada Republican voters asking what they should do.
I decided to make it fun.
I spent the past month telling my Las Vegas and Nevada audience to vote in both the primary and the caucus. That’s 100% legal by the way.
I urged them to vote in the primary for “None of the Above.”
With only Nikki Haley in the primary (and with Nikki expecting a huge victory), this was the way to hand Nikki a devastating humiliation…deny her a chance to claim victory (even though she was the only candidate on the ballot)…and hand President Trump a victory- despite him not even being on the ballot.
That’s called a “Triple Play!”
Then I urged my listeners in Las Vegas and the state of Nevada to also go out physically on Thursday February 8th (that’s tomorrow) and vote for President Trump in the Nevada Caucus to guarantee him an overwhelming, resounding victory… positive national headlines… and a 100% sweep of the Nevada delegates for the GOP presidential nomination.
That’s another “Triple Play” for President Trump only 48 hours later!
Nikki had a choice (like every other candidate) of participating in either the primary, or the caucus. But the rules stated candidates could not do both. They had to choose. Even though the primary awarded no delegates to the presidential nomination, Nikki (aka “birdbrain”) chose the primary. Oops.
Trump brilliantly chose the caucus.
But Nikki – all alone in the primary- had a method to her madness. By being the only candidate in the primary, she thought she could claim a big victory on Tuesday night- and fool the nation.
But Nikki never counted on the number one conservative talk host in Las Vegas to urge all his listeners to vote “None of the Above.”
Do the numbers. My listeners are about almost an exact match with the number of “None of the Above” voters.
Yes, “WE DID IT!”
And tomorrow we will go out and hand President Trump a resounding landslide victory in the Nevada GOP Caucus, thereby giving him 100% of Nevada’s delegates for president of the United States.
Nikki was just handed the most humiliating defeat in the history of American politics. For all intents and purposes, Nikki’s presidential campaign is now dead. Although next week in her home state of South Carolina, President Trump will make it official.
Nikki (and the entire liberal mainstream media) just got a lesson in the power of conservative talk radio.
P.S. Nikki still has hopes for a political future. I hear she is being considered for Vice President by the “None of the Above” Party.

Washington is partially responsible for Ukraine’s missile strike on a bakery in the city of Lisichansk in Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) last week that killed over two dozen civilians, Moscow’s permanent envoy to the UN Vassily Nebenzia stated on Tuesday.
On February 3, the Armed Forces of Ukraine used high-power precision weaponry, presumably US-supplied HIMARS missiles, to target the bakery. The attack almost completely destroyed the two-story building and left some 40 people buried in the rubble, according to Nebenzia.
Some 28 civilians died in the strike, including a pregnant woman and her five-year-old child. LPR Minister of Emergency Situations Aleksey Poteleschenko was among those killed in the attack.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council initiated by Russia in response to the strike, Nebenzia stressed that the US is to be considered an accomplice in the attack, which Moscow has described as an “act of terrorism.”
“If someone undertakes to argue that Western countries have nothing to do with it and that Kiev picks its own targets for strikes, they should be reminded of the confession of Vadim Skibitsky, a representative of the Defense Intelligence (Service) of Ukraine,” the diplomat said.
Nebenzia recalled that in August 2022, Skibitsky admitted that in order to use the HIMARS systems, Kiev must first obtain target clearance from Washington. “So it is quite obvious who was involved in the Lisichansk attack,” the ambassador said. This also applies to the “dozens if not hundreds” of other crimes committed by Kiev using Western weapons, such as the recent downing of a Russian Il-76 aircraft carrying Ukrainian POWs, he added.
The diplomat also pointed out that the time and place of Kiev’s attack on Lisichansk were chosen deliberately, as Ukraine’s forces were aware that there are not many recreational places left in the city. “The neo-Nazis deliberately waited for the moment when families went for a walk on their day off, and cynically attacked almost the only place of leisure in Lisichansk,” Nebenzia said.
Тhe Russian envoy reiterated calls on the members of the UN Security Council and the UN leadership to “strongly condemn the attack on Lisichansk and all other terrorist acts by the Kiev regime.”
“The Bandera junta views your silence as a carte blanche to commit more crimes. For our part, we confirm that all those involved – the organizers and the perpetrators of this crime – will be identified and held accountable,” Nebenzia added. Russia will achieve its goals of demilitarizing and denazifying Ukraine through either diplomatic or military means, he insisted.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with US journalist Tucker Carlson on Tuesday for an interview, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a daily media briefing on Wednesday. The American had announced the imminent release of the footage hours earlier.
Peskov declined to say when exactly the public will be able to see the interview and would not comment on its contents. He noted that being an American, Carlson was neither pro-Russian nor pro-Ukrainian in terms of his attitude to the Ukraine conflict, which is expected to be the focus of the interview.
He pointed out that the interviewer’s position contrasts with that which dominates in Western media, which is why the Kremlin had granted his request. The Kremlin spokesman added, however, that Carlson is wrong when he claims that Western news outlets haven’t bothered to seek an interview with the Russian leader.
Western mainstream media cannot claim “even the appearance of impartiality” on Ukraine and “all have a one-sided position,” Peskov explained. Moscow has “no desire” to communicate with them and doubts that anything good would come out of it, he said.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that Carlson will likely publish his production on Thursday, citing “people familiar with the matter.”
Carlson has vowed that his talk with Putin will be released uncut on his streaming platform and will not be paywalled. He said it was important for the American public to hear what the Russian president had to say, because the stakes of the Ukraine stand-off were very high.
He claimed other Western media outlets were not doing a proper job informing the public about Moscow’s position, misleading them on why the US and its allies were spending taxpayer money on supporting Kiev. Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly Twitter) promised Carlson that the interview would not be suppressed on the platform, he added.
Critics claim that Carlson is sympathetic to the Russian cause. Former US Congressman Adam Kinzinger, who is pro-Ukrainian, branded him “a traitor” in an X post and launched a mock poll on whether the journalist was on Putin’s payroll.
Even before Carlson confirmed his plans, neoconservative writer Bill Kristol urged the authorities to prevent him from returning home, “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”
Carlson predicted that Western governments “will certainly do their best to censor” him because “they are afraid of information they can’t control.”

A full-scale war between Russia and NATO would leave Moscow with no choice but to deploy its nuclear assets, former president Dmitry Medvedev has said. He reiterated, however, that his country is not seeking a conflict with the US-led military bloc.
Writing on Telegram on Wednesday, Medvedev, who now serves as deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, pushed back against statements by numerous Western leaders urging their countries to prepare for a potential conflict with Moscow.
Russia has repeatedly said it has no plans of staging a conflict with NATO and the EU, he noted, despite the latter continuing “a dangerous drivel” on the issue. He suggested that this narrative is designed to divert the attention of Western voters away from massive spending on aid for Ukraine – an effort he said many have already grown tired of.
Medvedev argued that this fatigue stems from Western leaders’ desire to help “a dying country that is foreign to taxpayers,” while neglecting social problems at home. “Therefore, every day the leaders of these countries broadcast: We need to prepare for war with Russia and continue to help Ukraine,” he said.
However, Medvedev warned that a possible Moscow-NATO war would be drastically different to the Ukraine conflict and would not rely on the use of artillery, tanks, and drones. He noted that the alliance has a combined population of nearly one billion people and defense spending reaching $1.5 trillion, making it far superior to Russia.
"Since our military capabilities are incomparable, we will simply have no choice. The response will be asymmetrical. To protect the territorial integrity of our country, ballistic and cruise missiles with special warheads will be used... This will be the proverbial Apocalypse. The end of everything."
Against this backdrop, he urged Western politicians to tell their voters the “bitter truth” about what would happen in the event of war with Russia instead of “treating them like brainless idiots.”
Russian officials have repeatedly said they have never threatened to use nuclear weapons, but have noted that they could be deployed if the very existence of the state were threatened. In December, Russian President Vladimir Putin also said Moscow “has no interest… geopolitically, economically or militarily... in waging war against NATO.” Russia, however, has argued that the bloc’s expansion towards its borders poses an existential threat.

Billionaire owner of X (formerly Twitter) Elon Musk has pledged not to censor Tucker Carlson’s interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin when it is posted on the platform, the American journalist claimed in a video he posted from Moscow on Tuesday.
Carlson has been in Moscow for at least 4 days, sparking rumors that he planned to interview the Russian president. He confirmed his intention in the video, which has received over 260,000 likes.
He praised Musk for his pledge “not to block or suppress the interview once we post it on his platform X,” confirming that the video would be available without a paywall to anyone who chose to watch it on the journalist’s own website as well.
“Western governments, by contrast, will certainly do their best to censor this video on other less principled platforms, because that’s what they do - they are afraid of information they can’t control,” the journalist continued, encouraging Americans to watch the interview in order to educate themselves on the “history-altering developments” unfolding in Russia and Ukraine.
After assuming control of what was then called Twitter in late 2022, Musk famously partnered with a group of journalists to release internal communications that were widely accepted as proof that multiple US government agencies had been unconstitutionally suppressing the spread of narratives they found undesirable on social media.
Musk’s decision to allow numerous prominent banned users back on X – including former US president Donald Trump and, more recently, Infowars host Alex Jones – was praised by free speech advocates, including Carlson. The former Fox News host launched an independent talk show streaming on X last year after he was unceremoniously fired from hosting the number-one prime-time show in the US for reasons that have still not been made public.
While Musk presented himself as a free-speech absolutist when buying the platform, X has significantly increased its compliance with government content takedown requests since his takeover, honoring 80% of such orders compared to 50% under his predecessors, according to a report published last year by tech outlet Rest of World. This has not stopped western governments, including the EU, from demanding he crack down on “disinformation” and “hate speech,” threatening severe penalties for noncompliance.
Like Carlson, Musk has been a vocal advocate for peace in Ukraine, repeatedly warning Washington against provoking a direct conflict with Moscow that could spiral into a third world war. Accordingly, while he provided Ukraine with free access to his company SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service, he has refused to enable the system near Crimea, lest Kiev use it to facilitate attacks on the Russian fleet, arguing in September that to do so would render his company “explicitly complicit in a major act of war and conflict escalation.”

Former British Prime Minister Liz Truss has accused Rishi Sunak’s government of seeking to “appease” left-wing extremists, which, she argues, are gaining influence in British institutions.
Truss, speaking on Tuesday in London at the launch of the new Popular Conservatism, or PopCons, movement, said that many Britons are “secret” Conservatives but are afraid to ‘out’ themselves as such. This subset of people, Truss reasoned, must be galvanized in order to prevent a “damaging divide” between lawmakers and voters who “think the wokery going on is nonsense.”
“I’m afraid we have not taken on the Left enough,” Truss told attendees, including former UKIP and Brexit Party (now Reform UK) leader Nigel Farage and ex-Cabinet member Jacob Rees-Mogg. She added that for two decades the Conservative Party had mistakenly sought to “appease” left-wing ideology.
Among the goals of the PopCons political movement are to put pressure on the Sunak government to adopt more hardline conservative policies ahead of the general election expected to take place this year. These include more robust immigration laws, lower taxes and a commitment to leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
In her keynote address, Truss claimed that British lawmakers do not want to support these types of policies because they “don’t want to be unpopular.” However, “the irony is that these policies are popular,” she said.
Truss also cited her own personal experience of “never being invited” to London dinner parties, as an example of a conservative ideology being incompatible with expanding societal left-wing influence.
“I believe the fundamental issue is that for years, and years and years… Conservatives have not taken on the left-wing extremists,” Truss said. She added that these groups include “environmentalists” and those who “are in favor of supporting LGBT people or groups of ethnic minorities.”
The former premier of Britain also claimed that “wokeism seems to be on the curriculum in schools,” and hit out at the push to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions – which another speaker, former MP Lee Anderson, said is only supported by “odd weirdos.”
Truss, who is now 48, is the shortest-serving British Prime Minister in history, her reign lasting just 49 days until she resigned on October 25, 2022 amid a floundering agenda and party infighting.
Recent polling by Savanta has shown that she remains deeply unpopular despite leaving office well over a year ago. Around 65% of voters hold an unfavorable view of the former PM, with just 11% holding a positive opinion of her.
Chris Hopkins, research director at the polling firm, remarked of the findings that the PopCons movement “couldn’t find a more unpopular spokesperson if they actively tried.”

The Crimean Bridge connecting the Russian peninsula of Crimea to the Krasnodar Region will be destroyed in 2024, the commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Vice Admiral Aleksey Neizhpapa, has claimed.
On Monday, Neizhpapa gave a lengthy interview to Aleksandr Gordon, a Ukrainian journalist who is wanted by Moscow on accusations of spreading false information about the Russian military, and of inciting terrorist activities.
During the conversation, Gordon wondered if it would be fair to describe the 19-kilometer-long bridge as “potentially dead.” The navy chief agreed with the characterization, insisting that he knew how to destroy this key piece of infrastructure.
When asked about when exactly the longest bridge in Europe will go down, Neizhpapa replied by saying: “I think we won’t have to wait long. At least this year, for sure.”
The Crimean Bridge was built between 2016 and 2018 and was the only traffic and railway link between the peninsula and mainland Russia.
However, Moscow opened a vast land bridge to Crimea after Kherson and Zaporozhye regions and the People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk voted to officially join the Russian state in the fall of 2022.
Following the outbreak of conflict between Russia and Ukraine, multiple officials and commanders, including President Vladimir Zelensky, threatened to destroy the Crimean Bridge, claiming that it was vital for the Russian military. The structure had been targeted with missiles and naval drones on numerous occasions, but most of those attacks have been successfully repelled.
In October 2022, an explosives-laden truck blew up as it was traveling along the bridge, killing three people and causing damage that took months to repair. In July last year, a drone boat exploded under one of the segments of the structure, killing two civilians and orphaning a 14-year-old girl.
Back then, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin described the attack as “brutal” and pointless from a military perspective, explaining that the bridge is no longer used to transport combat equipment and ammunition.
Last week, he said that the Ukrainian military has “turned into a terrorist organization” as various units have increasingly been targeting innocent civilians and social infrastructure.

Sweden will this week announce the end of its investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, German media claimed on Tuesday.
The reports come after Swedish prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist told the Expressen national newspaper on Monday that he will disclose a major development in the case within days. Built to deliver Russian natural gas to Germany via the Baltic Sea, the Nord Stream pipelines were damaged by a series of powerful explosions in September 2022. Germany, Sweden, and Denmark each launched their own national probes into the incident after failing to agree on a joint effort.
Several leading German news outlets, including Suddeutsche Zeitung, NDR, WDR and Zeit, have predicted that Sweden will close its investigation after failing to identify any suspects. The move will benefit German investigators, according to the news outlets, as Sweden will be able to share evidence with them once its own case is closed.
Investigators are reportedly focusing their attention on a yacht named Andromeda, which was allegedly rented in Poland by a Ukrainian citizen before the bombing, and may have carried the team responsible for it, according to a working theory.
Warsaw has been accused of stonewalling requests for assistance from fellow EU members and feeding them disinformation to scapegoat Russia, the Wall Street Journal claimed last month.
Skeptics of the Andromeda theory have argued that the depth at which the pipelines were blown up would have made it impossible for divers lacking highly specialized skills and equipment to plant the explosives.
American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh claimed in February 2023 that the incident was actually a clandestine US-Norwegian operation, personally ordered by President Joe Biden to ensure the EU’s decoupling from Russian energy supplies.
Washington and Oslo have rejected the allegations, although senior officials in Moscow have said they find Hersh’s reporting plausible. Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the sabotage was “most likely” carried out by the US “or someone at their instruction.”

Washington is fanning the flames of conflicts in the Middle East by conducting unlawful strikes in Iraq, Syria and Yemen, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vassily Nebenzia has said.
Russia has requested an urgent session of the UN Security Council after the US carried out airstrikes in Syria and Iraq in response to a drone attack on an American military outpost in Jordan.
The bombings have “once again demonstrated the aggressive nature of US policy in the Middle East and Washington’s complete disregard for the norms of international law,” Nebenzia said during the UNSC meeting in New York on Monday.
The Russian diplomat argued that the US is “pouring gasoline on the fire” by conducting strikes that pose “a direct threat to international peace and security” and undermine “the central role of the UN.” He reiterated that US bases in Syria are “illegal” because American military presence has not been authorized by Damascus.
Addressing the Security Council, US Alternative Representative for Special Political Affairs Robert Wood said that the strikes were “necessary and proportionate, consistent with international law, and in exercise of the United States’ inherent right to self-defense.”
On January 28, a kamikaze drone hit a US outpost known as Tower 22 near the Jordanian-Syrian border. Three American soldiers were killed. Islamic Resistance in Iraq – an umbrella group for Islamist Shia militias – claimed responsibility for the attack.
The White House accused Iran of mastermining attacks on US personnel. Tehran denied the allegations, insisting that militias are acting independently and targeting US soldiers because of Washington’s continuing support for Israel during its war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The US and UK have also been hitting Houthi sites in Yemen in response to Shia militants’ drone and missile attacks on merchant vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The Houthis vowed to continue targeting the ships until a permanent ceasefire is declared in Gaza. The US, meanwhile, promised to continue to protect the “freedom of navigation that serves as the bedrock of global trade in one of the world’s most critical waterways.”

Former US President Donald Trump could be sent to prison “for a long time” when a verdict is delivered in his upcoming trial over alleged mishandling of sensitive government documents, an attorney linked to the US Democrats has warned.
Last June, Trump was charged with 37 felony counts amid claims that he illegally retained highly sensitive national security information at his South Florida residence. These included top-secret details of Washington’s nuclear capabilities and its strategies in the event of an attack on the US or its allies.
Prosecutors, led by Special Counsel Jack Smith, claim that Trump rejected requests by federal officials to return the documents – some of which were stored in publicly accessible locations in Mar-a-Lago, including in an unsecured bathroom. Trump has denied all allegations of wrongdoing and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
“People forget how damaging the evidence is in that Florida case,” Marc Elias, who represented the Democratic National Committee (DNC) between 2009 and 2023, said on MSNBC’s The Weekend on Sunday.
“It is literally about a former president of the United States stealing highly classified sensitive documents from the United States government, treating them cavalierly, showing them to people, storing them willy-nilly.”
Elias said that the evidence, when it is delivered in the trial in over three months’ time, could be “devastating to him politically, adding that “it puts him in real prospect of going to prison for a long time.”
The indictment marked the first time that a former US president faced criminal charges from a federal government he once led. Trump received another federal indictment in August 2023 over his alleged attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 US presidential election.
He also faces separate charges over allegations of falsifying business records in New York, and for a conspiracy to undermine election results in the US state of Georgia.
Trump, who is the clear frontrunner to claim the Republican nomination to challenge likely Democratic candidate Joe Biden in November’s election. In a head-to-head poll published by NBC News on Sunday, Trump beat Biden by five points, 47%-42%.
However, the same poll found that in the event that Trump is convicted of a felony Biden would lead by 45%-43%.

The temporary halt of approvals for new LNG export terminals by the administration of US President Joe Biden will undermine trust in the industry, Shell CEO Wael Sawan told the Financial Times in an interview on Sunday.
“I don’t think the recent announcement by the administration necessarily impacts, in the short or medium term, the supply of LNG, but I do think it erodes confidence in the longer term,” Sawan said.
The response comes as the British energy multinational, the world’s second-biggest LNG shipper after Qatar Energy, has found itself in a legal dispute with US exporter Venture Global LNG. In September, Shell along with BP launched separate arbitration proceedings against Venture Global for allegedly refusing to honor a multibillion-dollar supply contract.
Sawan added that Biden’s decision, compounded by Venture Global moving towards “not honouring the contracts with their foundation buyers” starts to raise more questions about “the stability and security of LNG from the US.”
Kathy Mikells, chief financial officer of ExxonMobil, criticized the White House’s decision as well, saying that such bans undermine efforts to wean energy-consuming nations off of coal.
“It means less US produced natural gas is available to replace coal around the world – that’s clearly a bad thing,” she said in an interview with FT.
Chevron CFO Pierre Breber added that energy policy should not be a question of politics. “The world needs affordable, reliable, ever-cleaner energy,” he told the outlet. “US LNG exports are good for this country: it creates jobs, it helps the balance of trade. It’s good for our allies who are looking for sources of energy . . . And it’s good for the environment, because . . . in many instances the LNG is [replacing] coal.”
Biden ordered a pause on approvals for LNG exports from new projects in the country on January 26, citing their potential contribution to climate change. However, many large producers have vocally opposed the move, emphasizing that LNG plays a vital role in the energy transition. The super-chilled fuel produces half the carbon dioxide of coal for the same amount of energy and 30% less than oil.
The controversial decision has also sparked anger among Republicans in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The lawmakers said the halt inevitably weakens global energy security and undermines US efforts to help the EU reduce reliance on Russian energy.
Since the start of the Ukraine conflict, the bloc has become increasingly dependent on LNG shipments from the US as it tries to replace pipeline gas from Russia. Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers called Biden’s decision “another gift to Putin.”
However, industry experts polled by Foreign Policy magazine believe that in the short term, the suspension of LNG exports won’t have a major impact on the market or on EU energy security.

US rapper Killer Mike was arrested and booked on a charge of misdemeanor battery following an alleged “physical altercation” backstage at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, Los Angeles police have said.
The 48-year-old, whose real name is Michael Render, was in the process of being released from custody by late Sunday, the LAPD confirmed in a statement. The performing artist’s arrest came soon after he won three awards at the music industry showpiece event, including his first Grammy Award in more than two decades.
“On Sunday, 4 February, just after 4pm, a male adult was detained and handcuffed for a physical altercation,” a statement issued by Los Angeles police said on Sunday night. He is due to appear in court later this month, according to the BBC.
“The suspect was placed under arrest and was transported to LAPD Central Division,” it continued, identifying Render by name and confirming that he was booked on a charge of misdemeanor battery. No further information – such as the identities of anyone else who may have been involved – was released.
Footage following the incident, filmed by the Hollywood Reporter, appears to show a handcuffed Render being escorted from Los Angeles’ Crypto Arena by police. In the brief video clip, a voice can be heard saying, “Are you serious? What the f***?”
Render’s arrest came soon after he swept three categories at the Grammys, winning Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance – beating rap industry heavyweights including Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Nicki Minaj to the prestigious honors.
In addition to his music career, Render is known for his activism and has been vocal about some issues facing black Americans, such as police brutality and racism.
Prior to his arrest, Render reacted to his trio of Grammys by speaking of his regrets over some of his actions earlier in life. “At 20 years old, I thought it was cool to be a drug dealer,” he said backstage. “At 40, I started to live with the regrets of the things I’ve done.”
“At 45, I started to rap about it. At 48, I stand here as a man full of empathy and sympathy for the things I’ve done,” he added.
Representatives for Killer Mike have yet to comment on the situation.
Sunday’s 66th Grammy Awards were dominated by pop superstar Taylor Swift, who made history by becoming the first performer to win Album of the Year on four separate occasions – edging ahead of Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon and Frank Sinatra in the category.

The emergencies minister of Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), Aleksey Poteleschenko, was confirmed on Monday as being among the victims of the recent Ukrainian strike on a bakery in the city of Lisichansk. The attack claimed the lives of 28 civilians.
Moscow has slammed the “terrorist attack” perpetrated by Kiev. However a former aide to the ex-mayor of Mariupol, Petr Andryuschenko (who fled the city in early 2022 following the outbreak of conflict) has suggested that the death of the regional minister in the bakery attack legitimized the murdering of 27 others.
Mariupol, located in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), was liberated by Russian forces early in the ongoing conflict.
“At the end of the week, late in the evening, heavenly punishment visited Lisichansk in a restaurant near a bakery, where the top collaborators had already celebrated two birthdays,” Andryuschenko wrote on Telegram, claiming that only the restaurant was destroyed, while the bakery itself remained “intact.”
It was not immediately clear where he’d come by his information, given that the bakery and the restaurant were effectively a single establishment, located in the same building. Its structure ended up heavily damaged in the Ukrainian strike, partially collapsing and burying dozens of civilians under the rubble.
Additionally, the strike did not exactly happen “late in the evening” as Andryuschenko claimed, but occurred shortly after 5pm local time.
The official also urged the Ukrainian side to brag about such attacks in the future, arguing that Kiev should have released the news of the strike first, while describing the bakery as an “assembly point” of “collaborators.” Early information releases, according to the former aide, deprive Russia of the “information field advantage.”
The death of Poteleschenko was confirmed by the acting head of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik.
“He was a courageous man with an iron character and great fortitude. He defended the Lugansk People’s Republic within the ranks of the People’s Militia, then worked in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the LPR. For a year, he headed the Lisichansk fire and rescue squad,” Pasechnik wrote, eulogizing the fallen official on Telegram.
Russian troops secured the city of Lisichansk in early July 2022, making it one of the last municipalities in the LPR to be liberated. However, the city, which remains close to the front line, has been a frequent target of Ukrainian artillery and missile attacks ever since. Saturday’s strike, however, was reportedly the deadliest to date in the community in terms of civilian casualties, with 28 people, including one child, now confirmed dead.
