George Washington has been all over the news and boards lately. So I did some Quality reading and started to wonder why we have a system that has so many corrupt long term politicians in it. Seem it began with the 12th Amendment in 1804 and when political parties started. In his farewell address of 1796 George Washington said in part the following;
"the spirit of party".....
"serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection"
I discovered that George Washington thought political parties would eventually bring more harm than good to Our Country and Government should be Service to One's Country not to One's self interest. DJT knows this and I'm glad he does. May God Bless the USA and DJT
Really... Dems and RINOs like to preen and pose for the camera telling us that they are "public servants".... bullshit, they serve themselves and no one else. Any revolution worthy of the name would have these vultures hanging from lampposts.
Politicians these days are mostly in it to enrich themselves through kickbacks from bills and the like. Just take a look at how many millionaires we have in Congress; especially those that became millionaires after they got into Congress. They are so out of touch with their constituents, I'm not even sure they realize that they work for us and not themselves. It is truly disgusting.
TERMLIMITS must be written into constitution for every goverment and political position
An informed public is how you limit terms. Perhaps there should be term limit to judges and the Supreme Court.
Fren, Actually it was much earlier 1804 when they established parties, ever since it has gotten worse until a push back happens , then it starts all over again. When this is done we need to make sure there is TERM LIMITS and Prohibitions on lobbying. The Emoluments Clause and Term Limits have a flaw, they make deals in office and get paid off afterwards if they only serve a few terms, like BO, BC as Presidential examples. These "book deals" and "movie deals" should have a time limit before publishing after leaving office, like 10 years or more.

George Washington was the Only President elected that Did Not belong to a political party, he warned us in his farewell address to beware of establishing parties that it would eventually lead to Riot and Insurrection.
