I have noticed similar things where I live--- ALSO in a red state, a red county, but with a blue-infested city in the middle of it. Cordiality is still seen, but I also now see overt symbols of something I had never seen before. It manifests mostly at up-scale shopping places where libs and vegans like to go.... Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, etc. Those folks are mask-wearing nazis and won't hesitate to be a Karen about it. Yet in other places I go -- a blue-plate special kind of lunch place, gun shows, etc., -- few people bother with masks except as maybe a little show of walking in with one on, but off it comes after getting inside. AND NO ONE CHALLENGES THEM. Quite possibly because where I live is also very Second Amendment friendly and a majority of people carry around here.
