Orthodoxy does seem as if there are many rules, but when you realize it has existed for hundred and hundreds of years, mostly unchanged, you know that throughout the years it has picked up many customs and traditions that are a bit foreign to the ways we live now. Nothing is so onerous that it is undoable, it's just a culture. It is not Pharisaical, I dispute that. It is based in love. If all you see is rules in Orthodoxy, you have missed the point. Read the fathers and see what they say.
When people read this in the future, I think they will be astounded by the spiritual content that is such a big part of GAW. This should counter the "terrorist" and "extremist" malarkey. We are pretty much regular Americans. No craziness here!!

I just love these kinds of comms. I don't have to understand it all, but I'm in the midst of it. Probably comes from growing up in a family that spoke a language that I did not understand. Words surround you and you feel like you belong. Then the haiku -like Q post. It's Q world all the way.
Quo vadis, not Quovardis. Quo vadis is the name of a famous book. Quo vadis means, in Latin, where are you going? These words were spoken to St. Peter after the Resurrection. St. Peter was in Rome, and decided it was getting dangerous, so he set out on the Appian Way to escape what he perceived as martyrdom. But, Jesus appeared to him and asked the question: Where are you going? Peter then realized his fate WAS martyrdom, and he turned around and returned to Rome, where he was beheaded. This is a wonderful example of giving up one's will and following the will of God in our lives.
Now, most of us won't get a personal visit from Jesus, but there are ways to determine God's will versus your own will. Read The Sunflower, a book on - yes- finding the will of God in your life.
The premise is: Whatever is happening is what God wants to happen. Do not fight circumstances, but accept them. That's it in a nutshell. I can say that is makes life more manageable, since you don't have to work so hard to try to make things go your way. My yoke is easy and my burden is light. Remember that??? It's true. You yourself place burdens upon yourself. God does send trials, but nothing you can't bear. Life is an adventure, all the way!!
I like this quote. Now think about our culture and the emphasis on "influencers". These are the people whom we seek out to tell us what to do or what to like. Do we need this? Not according to Confucius! The mantra long ago was "Do your own thing." It made a lot of people mad, but probably Confucius would concur.
If they aren't sick chickens, he should not do this. Either kill them now and freeze them or keep them alive until its time for them to go. If he does what they want, he is helping to create food shortage. I hope he doesn't take the blood money.
The last one is best. Stunt doubles. Joey can't even do that well.
