Agreed. And I think some of the rules need to be changed for Congress:

1. No more voting for a raise for themselves. They get paid the average salary of an American worker. End of story.
2. No lifetime salary--they only get paid when they are in office. Once they're out, no more money. Period.
3. No security--if they want security, they pay for it themselves.
4. 2 term limit: after two terms, you're out.
5. Their assets go into a blind trust when they enter office. They have no access to it. If they somehow gain access to it or the contents/investments within, they're out of office. If they get caught making deals to make themselves rich, they get charged with treason.
6. Anything they pass for the people of this country, they have to abide by. They like Medicare so much? Then that's what they have from day one.
7. If they break a law, they get prosecuted to the fullest extent: these people are supposed to represent us, and if they break the rules when they have power, they need to be taken down.

I could keep going. I have a long list of rules they'd have to abide by. Being in Congress would be so miserable, no one would want to do it unless they really loved this country and wanted what was best for it. Anyone caught working the system would be disposed of properly.

I like that line of thinking, invest in tar & feathers.
