Because for 13 days he's got the legal reins of the military and and can still hurt them.

I agree that they're typically this vile. However, this isn't a show of force or power but haste and why are they calling for it?
That is the vindictive part of their hateful behavior. They want to humiliate Trump. They are vengeful and spiteful - - this is the expected retaliatory actions I expect from the elected political hacks holding office. They feel feel they deserve much more power and respect than they deserve. Trump didn't kowtow to them, so he must pay by any means necessary.
