I'm hearing that their reasoning to go for impeachment is to make sure Trump cannot run in 2024. Of course, by 2024 they'll all either still be in jail or executed.
So does this mean if a president is impeached 2 times he is not eligible to run for a second term...ever? Never heard of this before. And technically, he was acquitted of that "impeachment".
Actually the issue of not being able to run again is not about the number of times he may be impeached. It is about the sentence issued following conviction by the senate. Normally the sentence includes removal from office and prohibition from holding office in the future. The prohibition has not always been included as in the case of Federal Judge Alcee L. Hastings who was convicted and sentenced to removal but not prohibited from future office. He later ran for and was elected as a congressman from Florida.

Yeah, we are waiting at the finish line already.
Serve two terms. You can run as much as you want.

Thanks for the explanation. I wasn't aware of that sentences/clause. I do remember that Hastings, a crook, still holds office.
