It's been a long time back but I remember something about these file names encoding something (per Q drops)

And I see here the final digits of the png filename were taken and reversed to arrive at a specific Q drop

Is there anyone that can point me to when/where this technique of comms was figured out?

It wasn't. People just pick random posts and pretend there is a connection. Q has never even suggested that he is paying any attention at all to the post numbers.
