Wondering if at large people are seeing crews working on the poles where the emergency/warning speakers are mounted. In my immediate area here in northeast Ohio we have seen crews working either to maintain or install new ones.

Also helpful for the monthly tornado warning siren tests lol
I will go out and take a pic and attach. Every community has them - they are generally hidden but are quite loud
We have one hotn on the firehouse in the town center but it's not a speaker, just a tone. They test it frequently
I was told by a police officer friend that they just updated the entire county EB system here in NJ LAST WEEK. He told me it was the first time in over 15 years it has been updated. He is a normie and has no clue what is going on, when I told him about timing of it he was blown away.
I work on power lines for a living but haven’t heard of anything about this. However I can’t say whether it’s true or false. Those guys are most likely communication guys. Do you know what exactly they were doing on the pole? Wiring or replacing equipment?
Not sure as I was driving by and noticed at two locations in the last two days. Although they are generally used as warnings I don’t think there is a technical reason why voice could not be broadcasted
Yes we had them in Washington state growing up. One on top of the fire house and others for tsunami warnings. Could be maintenance protocol. However from the comments on here it could be a nation wide effort.
Yes just focusing on the timing since I have never seen trucks or personnel even near one before
We don't have them hear in MA, none that I can tell anyway. Closest I've seen to this were the tsunami warning horns in Hawaii, and you can't miss those.
Are they really concerned all cell service, wifi/internet, and even satellite or basic cable will be taken down all at once where they would need those speakers?
Im thinking they will play a part in assuring all citizens are being communicated perhaps ancillary. They are very loud and will get everyone’s attention
I just hope people aren't immune to hearing it go off during testing. Then again, if it's coupled with everything going down just when that goes off, they should know. But most people around here are oblivious sheep.
Even small, Midwest country towns have the tornado sirens installed in strategic positions to cover as much of the town and countryside as possible. Ours are tested every Saturday at 12 noon.
I've never heard them "talk" though.
Here's a youtube (sorry) link to a bunch of different types.
What do they look like. Honestly I doubt I would know one even if it fell on me.
