Yes but don't think of it as a computer simulation. You see, energy is conscious by definition. And matter is simply miniscule packets of spinning energy clumped together (oversimplified). So our entire universe has been constructed from spinning vortices of conscious energy.
So we, as humans, are clumps of conscious energy occupying "physical" bodies made of spinning vortices of conscious energy. As such, we are immortal. The physical body can lose its integrity but we ('souls" if you like) remain intact forever.
In addition, by occupying the physical body, we somehow lose our memory of our existence outside of the body.
Just to complicate it further, time doesn't really exist. This is the bit that I really struggle to grasp. Everything that happens, does so simultaneously. And I guess that's why the mandela effect is possible - because nothing is really fixed in time. It's flexible. And [someone] is buggering about with it.
