“All our newspapers will be of all possible complexions – aristocratic, republican, revolutionary, even anarchical…Like the Indian idol Vishnu they will have a hundred hands, and every one of them will have a finger on any one of the public opinions as required. When a pulse quickens these hands will lead opinion in the direction of our aims, for an excited patient loses all power of judgement and easily yields to suggestion. Those fools who will think they are representing the opinion of a newspaper of their own camp will be repeating our opinion or any opinion that seems desirable for us. In the vain belief that they are following the organ of their party they will in fact follow the flag which we hang out for them.”

Well, that's depressing.
At first glance it might seem depressing. This is just a reminder saying that most media has been controlled propaganda for the purpose of creating the illusion of a clash of political ideology. This is precisely why Trump is calling for his own media outlet; to escape the trap of false political division so we might realize we're not so different after all.
I find it interesting that these are some of the things Trump has been trying to warn us about since he's been in office. These are some of the things he has been trying to correct. Of course, there are some good independent news organizations out there but channels like CNN, FOX, etc. have revealed themselves over and over again as controlled propaganda posing as authentic left and right-wing platforms.
