Through the 17th? haha Cause these no fly zones last through the 17th. And I never remember the Prez having soldiers at the border when he visits, just SS, I'll dig into that.
Those areas are a bit weird. You got to wonder why there.

Looks like there's a system of basically tethered blimps in that area used for surveillance:

They're based out of Marfa--that's the MRF location on the map. Sounds like they keep an eye out for drug smugglers. They have the no-fly zone there because it's so remote. People like flying low-altitude flights across the border. Looks like this same zone has been designated a no-fly zone a bit in the past.
So might be something, might be nothing. Leaning toward 'nothing' unless something else shows up.

My bad, I looked at it and thought it was the DC one I just saw a bit ago. Didn't realize it with the map that it's Texas. They just had that FB video an hour ago showing a whole bunch of armed troops at a truck stop in El Paso though. If they were passing through to go there it could make sense.

Altitude: From and including 10000 feet MSL up to and including 13000 feet MSL
It affects a very specific altitude only. I guess to allow unrestricted flight of one or more non-squawking aircraft? Interesting then that it's only this small area. Thoughts on why a specific altitude for 6 days in a small area is restricted?
I guess it's on the border, so maybe they want to run surveillance ops?
