Apmex.com is kinda the "gold" standard (hehe) for purchasing precious metals, but there at least half a dozen others I'd recommend. Silvertowne I've purchased from (no issues), as well as JMBullion, ProvidentMetals, ScottsdaleSilver, SDBullion, GainsvilleCoins. In the PM community, I've never heard of uphold.com as a reputable dealer or heard of anyone purchasing physical metal from them. I would avoid, if it were me, but do research and see if it's for you. I'd recommend spreading your purchases around a few different dealers. Apmex is like the Amazon of PMs kinda. The premium is higher, so you'll pay more in the end, but their customer service is top notch for buying or selling. Or MidwayUSA if you're into firearms. I like to advocate for choices and there are many great choices for PMs.
Checkout the sidebar on reddit.com/r/silverbugs for well-known dealers and search the forum for reviews from folks. If you have a local PM dealer, I'd highly recommend developing a relationship with them for buying AND when it comes time to sell. You'll always get a better Sell price with some premium attached, when it comes time to offload - compared to selling to online dealers. Disclaimer: I've never sold any PMs and I don't have a good LCS (local coin store) where I'm at, unfortunately.
I've purchased from quite a few online PM dealers over the years and have had ZERO issues with anyone on a .com site. You can find awesome deals on EBAY, but that I'd ONLY recommend for experienced purchasers that have the ability to verify/test the metal they receive - too many counterfeits on Fleebay.
I'd be happy to answer any questions with PMs and share my experience so just use the private message system on here.
Last thing: precious metals are a STORE OF VALUE, not an investment vehicle. So whatever happens with regard to the monetary system, I'd stack metals AND cash. Metals to preserve your current financial health and cash so you can buy back into the market when or if it goes down. I believe the stock market is due for a reset, but it's anybodies guess at this point.
I have heard people speak well of Scottsdale mint. Be sure to get the actual metal, don’t hold certificates or any stupid shit like that. Don’t buy bitcoin, it’s invisible. Get the metal
Gold and silver is what I've been told. I really should get some.
same. how will you do it?
I have an account with uphold.com, I'll probably buy it there. I have no idea if that's the ideal way to do it though.
Order from a reputable silver dealer online or buy at your local dealer. Online I have purchased from silvertowne.com
wrote down your and suggestion of the other guy
anyone else?
I bought from usagold.com. not bad, but i dont have any other to compare them to. Seemed like an easy process. Call, order, delivered.
