well, the marines on guard duty were friendly and they chatted a good while about the happenings on the 6th with the marines standing there listening, and the policeman (former marine) was really chatty and friendly with them too

but quite obviously, the marines on guard duty were there to just guard the facility

Washington navy yard is where alot of Military JAG offices are.
