The world they are living in is so far divorced from reality that it's needed. I'm not saying it'll be easy, but there is really no way to replace congress/judges/executive appointments with people that see the reality and not have them voted out in six years by those that can't see the ground for the clowns.
The truth is needed for freedom. Denying them freedom is keeping them oppressed 'for their own good.' I tend to go with Aldous Huxley on this, as he called this sort of thinking the most delicious of moral treats.
I don't think the post says that it will always be a secret. I agree with you completely from a moral standpoint. From a strategic standpoint however, you have to accept that such info will have real life consequences, suicides, riots etc. You would want to try and somehow ease people into it.
