Can someone explain to me why Trump is pushing the vaccine?

I am somewhat new to this and everything is making perfect sense but one thing that is bothering me is why is the president pushing a vaccine that he must know is likely to be harmful and a not needed risk? Thanks

Is it likely to be harmful? With conspiracy theories you have to keep an open mind, they could be true or not. Having said that I will wait and see how the vaccine goes with everyone else first then if I must
