That is understood, though I believe that my point still holds some validity.
They are all available for instant action & they are making a continuous security presence to deter the enemy.
If they were all put up in hotels/tents, it would decrease their readiness/reaction time, provide the enemy with opportunity to counter that does not otherwise exist, & it would inhibit the element of surprise when ops are imminent.

I feel ya, but still maintain that having joe sleeping in the halls doesn't make us look prepared for combat - it makes us look like disorganized fucks - which is why in my seven years Ive never seen this during operations - travel - OK - not during operations
