Absolutely.

Also, do not expect others to be as accepting and open minded as you may be.

Here is a good quote to remember: "It is far easier to lie to someone and have them accept it as truth than it is to convince someone that they have been lied to."

People have a lot of pride and will have cognitive dissonance regarding the fact that they have been lead astray by a complete lie for so long. The mending part will be the hardest part of this operation. It could be a generation long.
