There were lots of blackouts there recently so the tracking boxes might be down?
This, coupled with the big trainings in the south and AF1 jumping all over South Jersey (almost like it's a transponder error or distraction) makes me really wonder what's going on today.
The transponders now are ADS-B which is a satellite based system no ground based stations are necessary any more. Also if there was power outages the stations have backup generators as it is an issue of safety if flight if those systems are non-functional. Source am pro pilot
