AMD backdoor was on the software side and was fixed Intel is hardware side and not fixed.

I wonder if this applies to older versions that pre-date 2012 - even if it's just less extreme than newer versions?

Intel has blown it in the CPU market. AMD has been eating their lunch. They also have never really gotten a foothold on the mobile market. This isn't related to anything significant other than Intel's poor performance.

Which coincidentally coincided with Intel saving a ton of money by relying on H1B visas instead of Muricans. Great job!
