Was Nixon and Ford swamp?

Don't know much about politics pre Reagan (or even pre Bush tbh), were these two swamp? I know JFK cheated Nixon out of the presidency the first time but did Nixon eventually fall into swamp?

Nixon took us off the gold standard, but enacted a wage and price freeze, so the inflation wouldn't hit until Carter was president.

Nixon got us into China. That's a capital crime by itself.

BTW, the erased gap in the Whitehouse tape is exactly the same length as "Alice's Restaurant" by Arlo Guthrie. Coincidence?
