To clarify, it doesnt matter what you do (works). Donate time to charity, give homeless people food, be a pastor, dedicate your whole life to good deeds, it will never be enough.

When you are saved, the Holy spirit decends into your heart/soul.
The spirit dwelling inside of us is what motivates Christians to do good deeds, to emulate Christ.
We strive for a perfect, sinless life dispite knowing we WILL fail, it isn't possible to be perfect.
We keep trying because of our desire and drive to emulate Christ, part out of gratitude, out of wanting to please Him,
and out of wanting to be better humans.
