Merkel didn't just step down. She announced her step down in June, 2020. Guess what? She knows what's coming.

She was set to "step down" aka not seek re-election at the next election in 2021...announced in 2018. This isn't new.

The ISSUE isn't Merkel not seeking re-election. OP should change the title because it's misinformation.

The issue in Germany is that Merkel's party doesn't really have anyone who's popular enough to run in the Sept 2021 election.
