With an eye on history I'd have to say that our "collective" suffering in the context of America is at a 3 maybe 4? The great depression being 6 pushing 7-7.5.
Compared to China's "great leap forward"
Or the soviet famines were 8 on good days if you can imagine.
Additionally I'm not saying Americans aren't suffering atm. Im saying it's not china...yet.
