Vetfag here and I’ve been mulling what’s been going on.
In about a weeks time they have mobilized 25,000 troops and erected a fence around a very large area of DC, including the Capitol and surrounding area.
The sheer amount of logistics to pull this off and have the infrastructure in place, as well as the supplies needed, this was not thrown together in the last week. The miles of barricade fencing that just happened to be available on such short notice, etc.
It takes months of planning to pull off something of this size and magnitude. This was all planned for in advance.
I would like to think the MIL can set up like this almost anywhere within short notice though.
For small ops, yes reactionary forces can be deployed quickly. But for something this large, not really. Just think of procuring the amount of fencing they are using.
Remember when Trump said the people who voted for him will not be let down and they will have a GIANT VOICE. Giant Voice is military mass notification and military emergency alert systems. The portable systems are all over DC right now along with Huge generators and back up lights. So something bigly is going down.
Military yes, National Guard no.
Of course they could.
However, to the OPs point, no matter how good our MIL is, they still need to procure the materials - they can't make fences, barbed wire and barricades out of thin air. Not to mention, getting all this material into the heart of DC.
Like any construction project, having this amount of materials on hand had to have been planned for months ago.
