I’ve said this before as an ethnic Asian person: the whole concept of democracy is a purely Western idea, period. Long before Communist regimes popped up in places like China, Vietnam, and Korea, my ancestors were ruled by one dynasty after another and at no point did anyone even bother to question why it had to be that way.
People of European descent are the only ones who have been fighting for democratic ideals in the history of the world. I may not be one of you, but I know to give credit where credit is due.
The concept of democracy is great, but the west has been just as ruled by dynasty after dynasty as anywhere else. It still is. Woodrow Wilson made sure of that.
People also have to realize it's not democracy that is king. What has made America "great" is not democracy. It's being a constitutional republic. This is more important than anything else.
This is what is more key. It doesn't negate the fact that it's still not free of dynastic rule.
Yes, of course. The point I was trying to make is that even though political dynasties have also existed in the West, the intellectual tradition of free thought and the constant questioning of the status quo sets it apart from all other world civilizations.
And a pure democracy would indeed result in unmitigated disaster. I am always shocked by the number of people who still think America is a democracy, when the very first lesson I was taught in my high school government class was that it was a constitutional republic. People must have either slept through that class or had really bad teachers!

Disagree slightly.
