I suspect Pence is just doing what he’s told to do. If there’s a plan he’s following his role in the script.

For what it’s worth, him nominating another set of electors would have been divisive and counter productive. The left would have been just as justifiably upset as we are now. The solution needs to follow due process and law. The election results need to be scrutinized and verified before either candidate can become POTUS. This would require an interim government and probably a public hearing/trial lasting months. Any other solution that doesn’t provide a verifiable win (or new election) is illegitimate.
