I’m making a grocery run this morning. Anyone have suggestions on what I should be getting? Currently we have enough food for this week, but I’m thinking I should stock up on some more canned goods/non perishables. Oh, and popcorn of course!
Edit: thanks for the suggestions everyone! I got a ton of canned soups, dried beans, rice, water, and other nonperishable snacks. And candles (should have those anyway in case of normal power outage) Also made sure we have enough dog food. Feeling much better now.
Toilet paper and other basics too
Water, gas or diesel, alcohol. Even if you don't drink alcohol is an excellent bartering tool!
I bought quest protein bars 21 gr protein, stay good forever. The birthday cake, oreao and cookie dough are good. King soopers or kroger's sale..2 boxes of 4 each, 12.00. Also will get beef jerky and meat sticks, and tuna pouches. Also, if you have a pet, stick their food as well.
Rice and dried beans store for a long time and provide good protein if you have nothing else. They're good cheap "insurance" to have on hand. You may never need them, but practice cooking them just in case.
Don't forget water and food for pets. I have 100lbs of dog food and 20 gal of water for my dogs. Think I need more 5 gal jugs of water though I have 4 dogs or you guys think thats enough?
Depends how long you need to prepare for.
Cheap canned meats, stock bullion, rice, bay leaf (keeps bugs out), pipe and few bags of pipe tobacco. Few handles of vodka, top ramen (cheap food).....
