Spank saw it correctly. That was on his right shoulder, so it's a Combat patch, not his unit patch which would go on his left shoulder.
The guy was likely in the 10th Mtn during combat, but now he's in the NG, and authorized to wear the 10th on his right.
This is not proof of 10th in DC.
They're historically a specialized elite light infantry force, like airborne. I'd assume momentum and tradition means their standards slip slower than others, like at Bragg. Theres a weird grouping of 82nd, 173rd, 101st, and 10th that saw me always rotating in or out with one of those units in Iraq. I was 82nd.
That's a combat patch not a unit patch. Right shoulder unless I saw it incorrect. Unit patch will be on the left.
