Honestly, I think people would like to play a role in fighting for their country. Being told to sit the bench in sports is one of the worst feelings even if your team wins because deep down you know you didn't contribute.
On top of that, when things take longer to resolve all those benchwarmers start to wonder why they weren't called in to contribute because they believe it could've been resolved more quickly with their support.
Lastly, no one likes to be told to wait till the point of no return to end up finding out that it was all a scam. If shit is going to take longer then some healthy expectations need to be communicated.
